Droid Transfer Activation Code Issues: Troubleshooting Guide
Summary
It is usually a very simple process to activate Droid Transfer on your PC. However, if you run into a problem, you may not know what to do.
This guide will take you through the most common issues you may face, and how to easily overcome them. This will ensure that you can get started with your Droid Transfer license as soon as possible!
1. Checking your Droid Transfer license
Ensure that you are running the correct version of Droid Transfer, that matches your activation code. You won't be able to activate Droid Transfer 2 with a Droid Transfer 1 code, and vice-versa.
Droid Transfer 2
If you purchased a license for Droid Transfer 2, you'll have one of the following licenses:
- Lifetime Droid Transfer activation codes start with DTFL. Lifetime Droid Transfer activation codes never expire and can be used on two computers.
- 12-month activation codes start with DTRN. These licenses can be used on one computer only. They expire after 12 months, and do not renew automatically.
- 6-month activation codes start with DTRS. These licenses can be used on one computer only. They expire after 6 months, and do not renew automatically.
Droid Transfer 2 is for Windows computers running Windows 10 or 11.
Each Android device used with Droid Transfer 2 will need the free Transfer Companion app installed. This can be downloaded from the Google Play Store.
Droid Transfer 1
Activation codes for version 1 of Droid Transfer start with DTPC.
Droid Transfer 1 can be used on computers running Windows 8/8.1/10/11.
To use Droid Transfer 1, you will need to install the previous version of Transfer Companion.

2. Activation Errors
If something goes wrong after attempting to activate Droid Transfer, you'll receive some details about what went wrong. Such issues can range from internet access issues to Droid Transfer not having permission to complete the activation on your PC.

3. Expired License
As mentioned, if you don't have a Lifetime license, your license will expire after either 6 months or 12 months. If you attempt to activate an expired license, you'll receive an error.
To continue to use Droid Transfer, you'll need to purchase a new Droid Transfer license.
