Summary

To access and copy data such as Messages from your iPhone, TouchCopy needs to read from a temporary backup of your device. If you click the messages tab in TouchCopy, the software will attempt to create a temporary backup to read from. If this is the first time using TouchCopy on your computer, this backup may take some time, depending on how much data there is to backup on your device.

Occasionally, users may experience either a long or infinite wait here when the software displays 'initiating data communications'. This may occur if there is a problem with creating this temporary backup of your device.

To resolve this issue, follow these steps...

  1. Close TouchCopy and open iTunes.
  2. Connect your device > click on your device icon > under Backups, please click 'Back up Now'.
  3. Once the backup is complete, close iTunes.
  4. Open TouchCopy as administrator (Right click on the TouchCopy icon either on your desktop or in your programs folder. Click 'Properties' and then go to the 'Compatibility' tab. On here please choose to 'Run this program as an administrator'. Once done press 'Apply' and then 'OK'.)
  5. Launch TouchCopy, which will now read from your new iTunes backup.

TouchCopy states that it cannot find any messages on my device, but there are tons of messages on my device. Please help. I tried backing up my phone to iTunes and it still didn't work!
