The Notes editor allows you to create, view, edit, copy and delete Notes that are viewable directly on your iPod.
Notes that you create and edit using TouchCopy will be viewable directly on your iPods' screen using the in-built 'Note' feature.
For iPod Touch and iPhone devices, a subset of the Notes manager functionality is currently supported - you can only view and copy notes from your device to your computer. We are working to include support of adding, editing and deleting notes for these devices at a later date.
To view the notes available on your iPod or iOS device, click "Notes" in the TouchCopy categories list.
In TouchCopy, press the Note button in the top control panel.
This will display the Note editor. To return to the music listings, press the Note button again or press the Back To Music button. You can toggle between the music listings and the Note editor by pressing the Note button - even while copying or playing music.
The iPod Notes manager has a control bar for performing additional notes related tasks...
For iPod Touch and iPhone devices the control bar will only display "Export Note" button in TouchCopy.
You can create a new Note by clicking the "Add Note" button. A new Note title will appear in the Note list. TouchCopy will ask you to rename this Note from 'New Note' to something more appropriate.
You can also create a new Note by right clicking on the Note list and selecting 'Add Note' from the pop-up menu.
You can create a Folder and then store Notes in this folder. To create a new folder click the "Add Folder" button or right click on the notes list and click "Add Folder" from the pop-up menu.
If you have selected a Folder in the Notes list and then select to create a new Note, that Note is placed within the Folder you selected.
You can drag and drop existing Notes and Folders around the Notes List so that the Notes are organized to your liking.
Select the Note you want to edit from the Note list. Edit the selected Note by typing in the Note pane directly.
You can also cut and paste text into the Note pane directly from other Notes, from web pages or any other windows source.
Your Note is automatically saved to your iPod when one of the following occurs:-
- You select another Note.
- You create a new Note.
- You go back to the music lists by clicking the Notes or Back To Music buttons.
- You click the 'Save Changes' button.
However, if you exit TouchCopy by closing its window before your perform any of the above actions the changes to your Note will be lost.
Select one or more Notes / Folders you want to delete from the Notes list and click the 'Delete' button. You can also delete a Note or Folder by right clicking on the Note or Folder in the Note list and selecting 'Delete' from the pop-up menu.
To rename an existing Note or Folder, double click the title in the Note list or press F2. Rename the Note / Folder and either press enter, select another Note / Folder or start editing the Note.
Your iPod will only hold 1000 Notes. Also, each Note can have a maximum size of 4000 characters. TouchCopy ensures that any Notes you create conform to these restrictions. Note that these are restrictions defined by your iPod, not TouchCopy.
To view Notes on a click wheel iPod select Extras from your main iPod menu, then select Notes. Your iPod will need to be disconnected from your computer before you can access the main iPod menu.
On iOS based devices, notes are viewed using the "Notes" application on the device.
