For example, when a Jailbreaked iPhone is connected to TouchCopy, TouchCopy can display and will enable you to copy your iPhone Contacts and Calendars, or view and edit your Notes. The "Files" functionality will enable you to browse every file on your iPhone - including iPhone system files.
See our feature chart for full up-to-date information on the extra functionality you get with TouchCopy using devices that have been jailbreaked. |
What is Jail Breaking?
Jailbreaking is the process of opening up the iPhone or the iPod Touch up for installation of 3rd party applications. Following jailbreaking you can simply restore your device in iTunes at anytime to get it back to a factory state.
Your iPhone or iPod Touch contains two main areas on its internal storage. One area is the "media" area where all your iPod data is stored. This is the area iTunes works with to copy all of your music, videos etc. TouchCopy is able to work with this part of your iPod Touch or iPhone without your device being Jail Breaked.
The other part of the internal storage on your iPhone could be called the "system" area. This contains all the important system files and software for your iPhone. It also contains your user data such as Calendars, Contacts, Notes etc. This part of the iPhone is usually very well hidden away from external software - including iTunes and TouchCopy. In order for TouchCopy to gain access to this part of the iPhone, the iPhone must have gone through a process called Jail Breaking. Once gone though this process, the 'system' area of the iPhone / iPod Touch is readily accessible for TouchCopy to work with.
