TouchCopy does not detect my iPod

Please make sure that your iPod has the latest software installed and that you're using the latest version of iTunes. You can download the latest iTunes from here.

Also ensure that you're using the latest version of TouchCopy by using the update checker in the options window. You can download the latest version of TouchCopy here.

Please follow our TouchCopy tutorial in the order listed, to ensure that TouchCopy detects your iPod. We advise that you close down iTunes and disconnect your iPod before starting up TouchCopy.

Also, note that TouchCopy for PC will not be able to find Mac formatted iPods (except iPod Touch and iPhone). For details please see here.

If none of this explains why TouchCopy cannot find your iPod, try manually placing your iPod into disk mode before connecting it to your computer.

Make sure your iPod is disconnected from your computer.

reset keys Reset your iPod by pressing and holding the center key and Menu key. You need to hold these keys down together for about 5 seconds until your iPod resets.
disk mode keys As your iPod resets the Apple logo appears on the screen, press and hold the center key and Play/Pause key together until a check mark appears on the iPod screen. You can now let go of the iPod keys.

Now connect your iPod to your computer and start up TouchCopy.

When you're done...

When you have finished using TouchCopy - close the TouchCopy window.

If your problems persist, please ensure that iTunes can find your iPod. Occasionally, if the iPod database gets corrupted for some reason, neither TouchCopy nor iTunes will be able to find your iPod.Once iTunes has found your iPod, close down iTunes and try using TouchCopy again.

TouchCopy does not detect my iPhone or iPod Touch

Please try disconnecting and then connecting your device again with TouchCopy running. If this does not work, restart TouchCopy with your iPod Touch or iPhone still connected. Also, ensure your iPhone does not have a "Passcode Lock" - this would prevent TouchCopy detecting your iPhone.

Also, please ensure that you're using the latest version of TouchCopy.

iTunes is required for TouchCopy to detect your iPhone/iPod Touch. You can download iTunes from here.

Also, make sure that your iPhone or iPod Touch has the latest software installed. TouchCopy has been tested with iPhone / iPod Touch software 1.1.X, 2.X, 3.X and iOS4

If your problems persist, please ensure that iTunes can find your iPod/iPhone. Occasionally, if the iPod database gets corrupted for some reason, neither TouchCopy nor iTunes will be able to find your iPod. Once iTunes has found your iPod, close down iTunes and try using TouchCopy again.
