How to remove data encryption from an iPhone or iPod Touch.

In order for TouchCopy to view the Contacts, Calendars, Notes and SMS content of your iPod Touch, iPhone or iPad - you need to ensure that iTunes preferences are not set in such a way that this data is not encrypted.

To check that data encryption is not enabled, ensure that TouchCopy is running and your device is connected. Then, once TouchCopy is displaying your devices musical content, start running iTunes. TouchCopy will prevent syncing audio/video content with your device while TouchCopy is running.

Click on your device in the iTunes source list and scroll down the Summary tab to the group of check boxes at the bottom.

Ensure that the check box, 'Encrypt iPod Backup' is not checked.

When you un-check this box, iTunes will perform a fresh backup of your device. When this back up is complete, close iTunes then close TouchCopy. Restart TouchCopy - TouchCopy will now be able to access your Contacts, Calendars etc.
